Hello there! I’m Zoe, a freelance health writer, doctor, and medical editor with over 7 years’ clinical NHS experience in the UK.
I write sensitively about intimate topics, simplify complex ideas, and empower individuals to take control of their health.
I’m just as happy promoting conferences to healthcare professionals as I am summarising a new study for patients.

As a writer…

I do everything from academic writing and editing to content and copywriting.
I’ve created award-winning website content, patient information leaflets, health guides, blogs, newsletters, ghostwritten LinkedIn content and more.
As an editor, I’ve reviewed hundreds of pre-publication journal articles across various medical topics.
Many have been accepted by top medical journals.
In collaboration with a health communications agency, I’ve worked with pharmaceutical clients to organise international events, launch drugs, create patient-centred website content, and internal newsletters.
As a doctor…

After beating the odds to get into graduate-entry medicine, I graduated as a doctor and spent time working within urology surgery, where I helped put stressed (and often embarrassed) patients at ease.
During my time in inpatient psychiatry, I worked with women in crisis. Empathy and communication skills helped me connect with these vulnerable women and support them to get better.
In the respiratory medicine and infectious disease department, I explained complicated medical information to patients and their loved ones.
Communicating with people from different backgrounds and education levels is important as a doctor, but also in my writing.
Who better to communicate your point than a doctor?
Although I’m not currently working in a hospital, doctors commit to lifelong learning. I’m always reading new books, taking new courses, and finding ways to improve my skills.
As a member of the World Medical Association, I regularly attend lectures on public and global health issues, including a recent course on global health and climate.
I’m always looking to improve. How else can you write great health content?
